Topic: Today's a REALLY good day
Hi all
Had an interview for a job today and that seemed to go well - I'm keeping my fingers crossed. While in was in an area I hadn't been to for many years I decided to have a look around and came across a music shop I hadn't seen before so I had a mosey in and a look around. The guy in the shop left me alone to look around the masses of guitars on the racks, the walls the floor - it was amazing. Eben down to the axe on the wall signed by Gary Moore.
I got talking to the guy in the shop and he was fabulous. I was talking to him about lefty guitars and he said if I told him what make and model I wanted he would get it for me on appro. Nothing was too much trouble for him - he showed me everything I wanted and more besides.
At this point my son was buying some strings for his bass and the manager of the shop was giving him some advice. I thought I knew his face and it turns out that he is Steve James former bass player of the Dogs d'Amour and Slyder. After Slyder he went on tour as guitar tech to the Levellers and from there became a well respected luthier. At the weekend they are going to have a look at the setup on my current guitar - he was great no snobbery when I said I had a 20 year old Tanglewood.
What a fabulous down to earth guy he knows where his money comes from and he treats all of his customers accordingly. What a pleasure to go into his shop.
This has definitely restored my faith in music stores - well some of them.
