Hello Deearna,
The best music to play on your guitar is the music that you like. It is however interesting to develop your own style of playing to enable you to put your own 'stamp' on whatever you play.
To give an example, Eva Cassidy's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and "Fields Of Gold" are far superior to the original artists versions. (In my humble opinion).
Take care,
Roger
thanx roger for the tip...
its nice to have sum1nz opinion every now and then...BUT half the music i listen to u cant find on tabs or chords....any opinion with that..plz help
Hello Deearna,
well what you into?
cause thats what it depends on what bands you listen too
take it easy
all types of music...thats wat makes it hard
Listen to the songs and work them out.
wat u mean work em out...... wat r da best sort of music 2 plai on lead guitar????
for me the most easy flowing stuff to just throw out a lead to is any kind of blues. but thats just me
speaking of somewhere over the rainbow, I have worked that one into a regge beat. (don't know if it's been done before or not but it sure is fun)
My guitar is setup in Drop-D so most of the things I try to play are played in Drop-D by the artists.
I also try emulating songs in Drop-D that aren't originally played that way.
I've been trying out some Ska lately (Sublime) but I'm not that good at it.
I think I have no sense of rhythm and timing but everyone tells me that I'm doing okay. *shrug*
The bands I play are:
TOOL
FILTER
SILVERCHAIR
Stone Temple Pilots
311
Catherine Wheel
Sublime
The Flys

well whats your fav
like if you could say your only allowed 10 bands to listen to for the rest of your life
who would you pick?
clapton has always been my favorite, then beatles, stones, steve miller, john hiatt, jack johnson, bob marley, allman bros, robert cray, george harrison ...not nessarily in that order
Detman,
If you like Drop-D tuning, why don't you give these songs a shot?
Bartender & Don't drink the water (Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds)
They're easy to play and sound amazing once you figure out the rhythms. Great to sing along to as well.
I've always liked the simply stuff. I know it sounds dumb, but I've been playing for about 10 years know and I still like the simple yet good sounding guitar. Like Jack Johnson, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and the like.
thanx every1 i lyk jack johnson and bob marley, john butler, silverchair, and shit lyk that.....

All music is fun to play but I think rock is the most fun. Of couse im just a kid but you should play the music you like and force yourself to play the music you don't thats what makes you better
I like playing '50s and '60s music.

"Don't drink the water" used to be one of my favorite Dave Matthews Band songs.
I love the dark tone it has. I will look it up on chordie later tonight!
