Two years ago my father-in-law passed away.  He had lived a life of service to anyone and everyone around him, demonstrating his deep faith in all that he did.  His last words on this earth were "I'll be fine."

I'd like to post a recording, but I haven't been able to play it through yet.  I'd like to make more of a minor song but haven't got the knowledge or skill for that.  If someone can give some advice on that respect, I'd appreciate it.   This is intended to have an old-time Country Gospel sort of feel to it.  I would also like to mention that Dirty Ed gave advice and support in my first couple of passes at this song.  Alvin did a significant re-arranging and so I gave him co-writing credit because he deserves it.

Heya Zurf,

I like it and I tried it and I don't know the melody your after, but I play alot of minor songs and just a suggestion. I played this and it sounds really nice to me.

(Am)  I guess I should be (C) Scared
(Em) It's getting colder in this room

(F) Tell my wife its coming (C) soon.

The way I can hear it, it seems to resolve nice to the C chord smile

The Chorus works nice for me with this progression also, anyway good one Zurf ! and just my take on a nice song.

Well, to be honest the melody pretty much stinks.  Except when Alvin sings it.  He has his own sort of timing that makes things that don't work... work.

Hi Zurf

You brought back my own father's death over 20 years ago.  He was always doing things for others right up to the day before he died. Even when he was ill he would not stop and "i'll be fine" is something he would say tp everybody who showed concern.

Thank you.  I thought it was a bit presumptious of me to include the part about the soldier dieing on the battlefield, having never served and never seen war.  I was looking for things that were scary, but for which faith had sustained people.  I could not imagine something that should frighten anyone more than a soldier in war feeling himself slip away.  And, having read any number of battlefield accounts of faith, knew that many soldiers had faced that very issue with fortitude and faith.  So, at the risk of presumption, I included it.  I hope no one who has served their nation in such a capacity has taken offense.

A very nice write - Later tonight or tomorrow I will give it a try and see how it plays - but it looks quite nice and the lyrics are strong and true, a reminder of many a good man as your father in law must have been.

I think it's OK to write about anything that moves you and you've done it in a respectful manner. I can't imagine anyone would have an issue with that. Again, really strong song..well done
