could someone please tell me the best way to learn tab i feel the need to move on from chords any tips would be most welcome.

Flash the best thing to do is practice, start w/ something simple.

There is a tab section in here that explains the use of tabs and if you google tabs or tablature you will find countless explanations of how to start learning tab. Good luck
