Topic: New Toy for Singers

If you do a song guy gig as a single, you will appreciate how much help a harmonizer pedal can be.
All you do is step on a switch and you can add effects and up to two voices in harmony to your own voice. Blending up is not a problem because the added voice(s) are your own.
TC Helicon's Voicetone Harmony-G XT is a mini-computer that adds one or two harmony voices directed by your guitar playing. Overdub - style vocal doubling feature adds richness to your voice.
Guitar signal can be sent to your guitar amp or routed through Harmony-G XT's effects.
An A/B switch to allow instant selection of your two favorite sounds.
It has quick and easy tweaking and storage of presets.
XLR mic level input in stereo or mono.
Clean studio quality mic preamp with phantom power.
It has built-in silent guitar tuning.
There is an older "G" model for $200 that is not updatable.
The G XT  ($249) is a computer that can be updated via the company's website,
Your guitar tells the computer what chord to harmonize in. It comes with 9 presets you can change to your own.
This thing could sound cheesy if overused but the vocal effects, silent tuning and subtle three part harmony in choruses are a whole lot of help.
I'm having a lot of fun with mine.

I'll bet you are toots.  Sounds like a lot of fun.  I might have to check those out.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

I have a Digitech Vocalist Live 2 which is very similar and I have to agree it is a great tool to have. This is a demo of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH4s-1OwsOc

Re: New Toy for Singers

I have a Digitech Vocal 4 and I have alot of fun with it . I have messed around doing some Jonny Cash and June Carter stuff but haven't had the nerve to try it for an audience yet. I play Jonny's part normal and step on the pedal for June's and my voice becomes a female. It's pretty crazy smile

Here is a demo video for the TC Helicon G XT:

My buddy John Reno got his yesterday. We have an idea to use both of us singing three part harmony - one of us doing oo's and ah's and the other doing the lyrics. We might just sound like the dad gum Eagles. smile

Re: New Toy for Singers

wow... I like them!  I knew that you could do things like that within audacity, although I haven't quite figured out how to do anything more than an echo effect yet (yup, need to read more I think)... I like these tho for something live.  VERY COOL!

ugh... my son forgot to log out of chordie again, that was me posting that... SORRY guys!  Anywho... very neat, and simple yet complex.  THAT is the kind of thing I need... someday... I suppose after I get a pickup and an amp!  smile

Re: New Toy for Singers

I really like the Vocal 4 and I have talked to some guys that have the new Vocal 3 that is supposed to be better than the vocal 4. I have been using the harmonizer for a couple years now and it is alot of fun. It is hard to get a good recording using them but live they really sound nice through a good amp or PA . I did a recording in the recording forum and you can get an idea how I use it.
