Topic: Chordie's Top 100 Songs - aka - My Place for Treasure Huntin'

I've noticed lately that I have developed a habit of perusing the top 100 songs looking for some old songs or new songs or songs I have not heard but others found interesting. I have been fortunate enough to have found some real gems in there, the latest an old Dylan song, A Simple Twist of Fate. Some are way screwed up on how they should be played but even in those I dig a little and find out how it goes and if it works out put it in my hidey hole of songs to come back to later. It give me a tidbit of pleasure to find these sort of like a old guy with a metal detector on the beach who finds quarters, dimes and nickels along with the rest of the metallic beach trash. Does anyone else have this habit or am I just weird? Maybe a little of both.  smile

I like to pick a random songbook with 50 or more songs in it and have a browse.  I have found a couple of songs by accident that I didn't really know I was looking for.  It's good to be organised but what would life and indeed music be if people weren't a bit random occasionally.

Hey Ian - I do that too. There are quite a few song books with many songs I either forgot about or never hear of. I remember when I first found chordie I would only browse by songs or artists. I was missing out on a ton of great songs by doing that. Thanks goodness I've changed my ways.

I will often just start looking thru the songbooks. I get bored seeing the same songs over and over, but when I find one I forgot about it's a nice surprise. You can never think of the song you want to look up when you sit down to look it up. Randomness seems to work it's magic for us.

I do the same thing from time to time,zguitar.  Every once in awhile I find a song I had forgotten and put it in my notebook.

I do a little of each,but I have alot of recorded tapes and cd so I look for alot of tunes off them and I always ck other peoples new songbooks,seems you find something you forgot about. I also have got some good tunes from some of the tv commercials, movies,which takes me to the misc music section,and that is really a treasure trove of tunes.

Welcome to Chordie. You will probably get more answers if you ask this as a new post since this topic is already in progress. It takes all of us a little while to get the hang of things on here.
