What would happen, when you are completely in isolation, deaf or living like a hermit, YOU NEVER HEARD ANY FORM OF MUSIC, but you have a guitar and a chord book.????
Would you create a completely new style or not????

OK Doc, I'll bite on this one for a minute....

We are operating on the premise that the  individual comes from a society that has no musical roots, and this guitar and book "fell from the sky".  It is unlikely that there is a society without some kind of music, but there was that lost tribe of people living deep within the forest on Mindinao.... so it is possible.

I'm going to have to vote for not only a new musical style, but an unusual set of tones as well.  Without anyone to tell you what is a proper tuning and no reference to start from, you would just experiment until you found something that could be "pleasing to your ear".  To the rest of the world, it might be just a bunch of gut wrenching discords, but still be "music".

hi phill if you're living like a hermit you wont be able to read and write,cos if you went to school you'd at some point have heard music,but you could try copying the pictures in the book and see what develops from that,tribes developed their drum sound to dance to,who taught them ,its what they developed over the years and picked up from their ancestors,thats my version anyway....stay cool

I'm sure that there are chords that sound good together even if you've never heard music.
But you'd definitely have to know how to read.

I don't think a caveman could possibly know what to do with a guitar besides smash bugs and small animals with it.
