Topic: Awesome gig bag

Hi all!!! This is just an FYI.

Just received a new gig bag and I must say this thing is very cool. Musician's Gear Elite acoustic gig bag. Comes in diff colors, I got the tweed one. Thick padding on the inside. 3 front pockets. Fits my Ibanez dread. For under $30 shipped (thru Amazon) this thing is a steal.

Happy NGBD (new gig bag day)!  LOL!  Good for you!  It's always nice to get a new toy or accessory for our guitars.  Bonus to get something that's going to keep your guitar nice and safe and have lots of room to bring all those goodies along!

Re: Awesome gig bag

Z,
Will the large pocket hold a folder with 8.5x 11 paper?

Re: Awesome gig bag

Dead, yes the large pocket will hold a 3/4" binder very nicely. The other 2 pockets are really just slits with zippers. The smallest is filled up with a tuner, capo, and picks. The middle slit will fit sheets of paper only, no binder. I'm not sure what else you would put in it. Boxes of strings would fit nicely too. Anything flat would fit the middle one just fine.

Hope that helps!!

I just might have to try one.

Re: Awesome gig bag

That really is a nice bag.  I am a little sad now.  I think my husband paid about $20 for mine and it's not nearly as nice as that!  I slide my music right in with the guitar as the front pocket isn't quite big enough to hold the music and a little too large to leave picks loose in there.  Very nice find you have!

Re: Awesome gig bag

Here's  is one I purchased recently, it has a lot of strorage and it has lots of foam padding to protect the guitar. It is a little more expensive $ 65.00 but I wanted good protection and the shoulder straps so I could jump on my motorcycle without strappin the guitar on. The pocket in front stores my binder with songs perfect.

Re: Awesome gig bag

If I didn't have to answer to the wife I would have opted for another hardshell case. Gig bags are less expensive tho.

Wayne, very cool bag. It's has the inners of a hardshell. I like it!!!!! I was looking at gators too, but as you said, they're a bit more expensive.

Amy, funny thing is, I don't take the bag anywhere. It is to hold my Ibanez dread that I only play occasionally. That's why I got a bag instead of another hardshell. I couldn't see spending $100 for a case that sits around most the time.  If I'm going somewhere I take one of my hardshells.

Re: Awesome gig bag

The nice thing about the Gator it seems to be as tough as a hardshell case. It looks like gig bag but it's more like a fabric covered hard case. I wanted a tough case with shoulder straps and I really like it so far.

Hmmm... maybe we should just trade bags then huh?  LOL!  I keep mine on the wall when at home.  I actually need another hanger as I have the two guitars now.  I've been keeping one in the gig bag and feel so guilty closing one away in a bag all the time.  It feels as bad as locking the dog away in a room when company comes (because my dogs are "too friendly" and will lick children to death and it apparently scares them).

Wayne, that's a REALLY nice case!  Bonus, it's nearly as great as a hardshell but without the cost.  If I ever get an "expensive" guitar I'll have to look into that one!
