Topic: Looking for song words

I think this is a Scottish song, the only line I remember from long long ago...........

" Mull was astern, rum on the port, egg on the starboard bow
Glory of youth glowed in his soul, where is that glory now "

It is possible that I have misheard some of the words, my wife thinks I am away with the fairies

Ta V Much Ye all

Re: Looking for song words

Hear it is my friend.  Be happy.  Be sure to show it to your wife.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Re: Looking for song words

Good detective work, Pete. I think the link explains it well. The traditional words can be found here...

But it seems RLS wrote new words. Mull, Rum and Eigg (pronounced egg) are all islands in the Western Isles of Scotland.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Hi Bensonp & alvee33,,

Thanks for your post and info, we have had  a good laugh about the words of that song for a long time

and this has helped explain a lot for us.

Kind regards

Re: Looking for song words

A group of us from the U.S.A had the good fortune to sail around the Isle of Mull. We chartered boats from a fine agency in Oban.
The head Scotsman had never heard this song:

He knows it now.
After a hard afternoon squall I got a photo of a spectacular sunset with Mull in the backround.
Such a pretty picture it is the cover artwork on my "Signature tunes" C.D.

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".
Ya'll wanna go down to the Guf?
