Topic: standard to drop d

ok so i have a washburn d10 with a built in tuner.....and i was wondering, how do i change from standard tuning to drop d?

Re: standard to drop d

To tune your guitar from standard tuning to drop D all you need to do is to tune your bottom E string (the thickest one) down to a D.

So your guitar is tuned DADGBe

Re: standard to drop d

Try just tuning your low e-string down to match your d-string <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

Re: standard to drop d

Don't know if you are playing a G chord in your progession or not but if you are most folks play some form of G chord at the fifth fret when playing in drop D a standard G chord won't work.

With a built in tuner just tune your top 6th string down until it shows you a D and you are good to go.

Re: standard to drop d

I drop the top string down to match the second string at the seventh fret.  It sounds good to me.

Yes that's a better answer Pete, smile    No I guess not I know you meant the 2nd string from the top, it would be 5th string 7th fret

Re: standard to drop d

You guys are confusing me....:)  Wouldn't that be 5th string 5th fret (D note) 7th fret 5th string would be an E note....

Lets see Pix , I am counting on my toes this time  Bb, B, C , C# , D  thats five. Gosh darn it I shoulda stuck with my tuner instead of trying to agree with Pete. I am blaming him for my discombobulated state smile
