Re: noobs in search for songs

Anything by the Ventures is fun to play with two guitars.

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".
Ya'll wanna go down to the Guf?

Re: noobs in search for songs

Crosby, Stills & Nash; America, Donovan, Cat Stevens

Re: noobs in search for songs

It may be too simplistic,, and you may not know the song ,,,, but,,,,
The first song I learned on acoustic was Ventura Highway. My bro in law showed me how to playit with 2 easy chords.
No it wasnt quite like the recording LOL but worked as a starter.
Knockin on Heavens Door is also a good starter.  Forgive me , as these tunes are old,, but so am I

Re: noobs in search for songs

Just wanted to stop in and say... WELCOME to the forums Bougie!  There's some discussion on playing songs with two guitarists... one not using a capo and another using a capo... all playing the same thing in the end!  You might want to try that with a song or two you guys both already know!

Steve... the first song I learned to play was "Leaving on a Jet Plane" (3 chords)... Then I learned "Tom Dooley" (2 chords) ... I'm just now moving up to more current songs like "Bubbly".  Oldies are always good!  What you play doesn't necessarily mean you're old (although sometimes I FEEL old, I'd like to believe early 30's is still kinda young smile)!

Art and beauty are in the eyes of the beholder.
What constitutes excellent music is in the ears of the listener.

Re: noobs in search for songs

If you like older country they're always (almost) easy to play with simple melodies.  I've downloaded about 140 that I use for playing in rest homes.  If all you want is lyrics and chords you can get them at:

Best of luck and have fun.

Re: noobs in search for songs

Pretty good link. I grew up listening to all of those artists and at the time I hated country. Now that I'm older I guess I'm a little nostalgic so I do play some older country. Great place for beginners and those of us that have some years of experience.

Don't take life too seriously, you're not getting out alive anyway
