Topic: About 3 memberbands

- CREAM

What make them so damn good, you hear rhythm, lead, solo at the same time, strange.
Even the WHO, 1 sings, no instrument, and 3 are player.

As a drummer, when I played with a 3-piece band, I could "play" a lot more because there was so much space to fill.  Then, when I played with a 7-8 piece band, I'd have to dumb it down quite a bit for the benefit of the big picture.

I think when you see a 3-piece band, you're getting to see all the players on their toes at all times, because there are so few opportunities to just lay down "2" and "4" or just play "pad" changes.

Me with my first ukulele, a Junior Beatles model, in 1966.  After Mom threw it down the stairs in a fit of rage, I became a drummer for life.  At age 43, I bought my second uke...

Our band's first live C.D., "A Bonified Social Club"was with the origional trio of rhythm guitar, harmonica and tuba.
You guys are so right. Trio playing requires everyone to overplay big time to sound anywhere near full.
Our second C.D. "Magic Chair" we added three more players on lead guitar, steel drums and drum kit. So nice to back off and make room for the new players and so much fun listening to them playing along with us.
