stairway to heaven-led zeppelin
tangerine-led zeppelin
wish you were here-pink floyd
while my guitar gently weeps-the beatles
one more cup of coffee-bob dylan(listen to the white stripes version to get a really good feel for it)
we are going to be friends-the white stripes
wild horses-the rolling stones
just to name a few that i think sound cooler when finger picked
Man... he had said that he doesn't like anything 90's and before.
I love your list and play most of them, but was there actually any music written in the 80's and 90's?
yep scawa he did, but all those songs named are timeless, lol <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">
for someone to say they dont like anything 19990's or before is rather very ignorant.
Ken
I would suggest Green Day - Time of Your Life! You can play this with a pick or finger pick it!
sorry i missed the thing about no pre 90's stuff
is there anything out there post 90's that is even decent to play that isn't metal?
i suggest that you play anything you can find because you can finger pick any of it and add stuff as you'd like
Lenderiscool,
For post 90's, try the Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows! Good fingerpicking stuff. Also, Green Day has a few good acoustic songs too.

How can you only like music from the last 6 years???
Wow quite the statement. I've always found music to be multigenerational. Bach composed 300 years ago and I still can get shivers down my spine listening to his music. Try playing some of his music on your guitar and then talk about finger picking. I also get the same feelings from so many others. One of the greatest finger pickers was Chet Atkins, how about Tommy Emmanuel? Paul Simon, Roland Dyens, Andres Segovia?
I can only hope for you that your musical range broadens to the point that you can appriciate many types of music. I cannot claim to enjoy everything but I have no problem stating that even if I don't like a certain type of music I can give credit to a great musician.
So as for post 90's I would reccomend :
The Dave Matthews Band
Kelly Joe Phelps
Of course the people playing post 90's fingerpicking were influenced by musicians from way back. Lets face it acoustic guitar is not in it's heyday. But there are many great players.
Try changing up some music that was not written for fingerpickin' . It will challenge you to learn and develop a style of your own.
Have Fun!
im a big goo goo dolls fan and i was just joking about the there hasn't been any good music
i'm also a huge white stripes fan
love all music
