I have a story about a guy that played a righthanded guitar upside down. I've told this story before on the forum but it's been awhile.
I was livin in North Dakota at the time and I had heard a little bar about 50 miles away had open mics on thursday nights, so Lizzie and I loaded up the guitar and decided to check it out. When I got there , a couple a guys were playing and sounded real good. There weren't alot of people there and after a 1/2 hr or so the two guys playin asked me if I wanted to take over and play.
I said sure so I grabbed my guitar and got plugged in to the PA and jumped on a stool. I asked if they would like to play with me and one guy said sure. I started playing and singing and was a little nervous and playing without a songbook and after awhile it finally dawned on me that the guy playing with me was doing a lot of upstrums. I think I played Hotel California, and House of the Rising Sun can't remember what others and he was throwing in some mean lead licks. I really didn't realize till after I had played about 6 songs with him that he was playing the guitar upside down. I guess I kind of had tunnel vision concentrating on lyrics and being in a new venue. It got kinda busy and I didn't even get the guys name or talk to him afterward.
About a week later I was at the music store in Dickinson N D and was visiting with the owner and I was telling him about the guy I played with. He said that's interesting where was the guy from. I said I think someone said he was from Fairview Mont. The owner said Oh, I know the guy he has been in here several times. He said did he flip it over and play it right handed to, I said not that I noticed. He said the guy could play it just as well right handed too. I sure wish I woulda had my little Q3 then to video it, when it happened.
I still feel dumb for not realizing what was going on around me
