Re: Oldie But Goodies

I like Dixie Land and Big Band era music.  You're right Old Doll.  Hadn't heard that one.  A good dance tune.  And badeye, here's one to match your old country song.  A catchy tune I always thought.  A good song.  North to Alaska

Re: Oldie But Goodies

This is such a good thread i hate missing whats posted here..

Great stuff from all of you musically gifted people. I appreciate it all.

This link isnt an oldie ! But i  do love John Martyn. This song with Ultan Conlon is brilliant i feel.. The hoarse husky voice of John and the young voice of Ultan for me is magic. Something about "the old dog for the hard road about this piece."
Ultan Conlons album is sooooo good to listen to in its own right also.. I hope you enjoy this as much as i..

Don't know what ever happened to this guy. He had some great tunes. This one from the 70's I think.

Thats a lovely wee song Chevo ! IVe never heard it before. I find myself humming it since i listened. Thanks for sharing.

Many years ago Bensonp, I caught my first trout mayfly fishing. on a river in  The county of " Cavan,
Andy, my sister-in- laws fiancee at that time, used to sing all Hanks songs. I can still hear the purity of Andy's voice
as he fished futher up the river. He always sang as he Fished. Unusual ! But beautiful, as his voice echoed with natures acoustics
around the hills, on a beautiful warm May day. I think i was about 19 at that time. _[ 20 years ago or so lol

Ah, Old doll.  Back when music was simple, but good, and when voices didn't sing 10 syllables per word and the guitars were strummed slowly and magically.  Here is another simple song by Johnny Rodriguez.

Re: Oldie But Goodies

Yes it is a great song, Pix. I used to play every Cat Stevens song I could cut because I was such a fan of his.
"Moonshadow" is fairly easy but "Peace Train" was very difficult for me.
"Father and Son" was special for me because that song never failed to make my brother cry.
