could be a number of reasons
most likely is that the action is too low (the string is not high enough above the frets)
can normally be corrected without much trouble by some minor adjustment to the bridge. normally a matter of turning a screw to raise the height of the string
but it depends what sort of guitar is it ?
fender type or gibson type
Its a Gibson copy, I think where I went wrong maybe was removing all the strings before putting on the new ones, have since read that I should have replaced one at a time!
try moving the thumb wheels underneath the bridge - the bridge should go up (and down).
make sure you know exactly where you started from and move it tiny amounts
hopefully the buzz will disappear
I always remove all strings and my electric and acoustic guitars when re-stringing as it is the only way to give it a good clean and to treat the fretboard. It had never given me a problem.
You may have put on a set of lighter gauge strings than it had before to cause the buzz but as John has mentioned raising the bridge slightly should cure the problem.
Roger.
Thanks very much for everyones help, have fidlled about with the bridge and it has taken the buzz away.
Cheers
