Re: I hate my electric guitar

well that was a fairly dumb statement. A Fiddle IS a violin, fiddle is just a slang term, they are exactly 100% the same thing. whereas an acoustic and electric vary quite a bit.

Re: I hate my electric guitar

I know most of the people here don't like me, and thats fine. Probably because I start "internet bar fights" I Would recommend getting a 10 watt solid state practice amp if you are a beginner who isn't sure where they are going to go. Of course you can never beat a 400 watt Fender tube amp. My grandfather bought one of those in the late 50's and still has it today, still sounds superb. As for you people not liking me, try to get over it. I'm just another musician here to voice my opinion, opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one and they're all different. If everyone agreed on everything there would be no sense in having a forum now would there? peace everyone

Read the reply. "IN PRACTICAL THEORY AN

ACOUSTIC AND ELECTRIC GUITAR MAKE SOUND THE

SAME WAY!." Read the complete post.

The type and the way the sound is

presented is different.

Yes in the hands of someone who knows what to

do with it different sounds will come from

the two types of guitars.

Re: I hate my electric guitar

What a guitar ! I'd love one of those, maybe one day.

I love playing my electric guitar but I also enjoy playing my semi acoustic as both have different sounds.

I have a Fender Telecaster and a Yamaha APX4 (I think ?).

The Telecaster is such a excellent guitar it almost seems to play itself in compared to the Yamaha, but that's not that difficult.

Now I'm in my late 40's I'm going through a mid lfe crisis as I used to play for about 1 year when I was a teenager, then I had a Hofner. I started again 2 years ago and now I enjoy it and I always do 1 hour's practice every night.

If you really hate the electic guitar try some other semi-acoustics.

Re: I hate my electric guitar

Very good point!!!

There is room enough for everones thoughts and opinions. I don't know who likes who and don't care. I don't dislike you. I think you have alot to offer (and to learn). I think you are a brash, arrogant, full of yourself person with a chip on your shoulder that thinks he has something to prove. Thats cool with me cause often times so am I. I'm glad you speak your mind, if I knew it all we could just close chordie and everyone could e mail questions directly to me. Just please try to be less condicending to the beginers . Save the attitude for the vets that need to hear it now and again. The truth is that an electric and accoustic are very simmilar and very different. Nieghtther is easier or harder or beginer or advanced. If you want an electric sound start with an electric. If not then start accoustic. At any rate I recommend everyone should start with type of guitar that will give the sound and feel they want for thier music.

Re: I hate my electric guitar

Dude, thanks for bringing up the topic. I can definatly relate. I myself purchaced a tastey les paul last year but only play my martin and epi accustics. The electric requires a completely different approach and style to get the right sound.

Its now for sale...but I'll never part with the martin

Yes there are tonal differences between

acoustic and electric guitars. Play both

you will become a more proficient complete

guitar player. Some will argue that you can

mask or hide flaws in your playing by effects

while playing electric but you can still hear

a sour note if you have a players ear. Same

goes with acoustic you can't hide mistakes.

That's why you PRACTICE!

Infact I hate electric guitars in general, and wished i'd never bought it, but at the same time i'm glad i bought it so now I know that I hate it

You know what I mean I hope, I wanted one from the minute i could play a G chord, so i bought one for ?100 and liked it for 10 minutes!

I'm selling it now so I can put it towards a decent acoustic.

Is this normal behavior for someone or am i an abnormal guitarist?

No your just abnormal. If you truly loved to play it would not matter to you if it was acoustic or electric. Your desire would be just to play.

Re: I hate my electric guitar

its easy to say 'always learn on acoustic first' if this is what you've done but there are plenty of people out there who have learne on electric and im willing to bet at least one is better than you.

do what you want, and if you really want to be a rock star dont listen to any 'good advice' big_smile

Re: I hate my electric guitar

Right now i have a pupil who is learnning electric because of the type of music he wants to play. I also have one that I'm teaching on an accoustic for the same reason. Both of them tinker with the other type as well after the lesson. Both are comeing along at about the same pace so I don't feel that either aproach if more or less valid than the other.

You hate your guitar: WHY DID YOU BUY A GUITAR?

Re: I hate my electric guitar

I once bought a 1973 fender tele. the guy I bought it from had it hung on his basement wall for about 12 years. dust had taken its toll on the contols and pick-ups. anyway I hated the sound and thus hated the guitar. eventually I decieded to order some custom pick-ups one being a humbucking and had them installed. I ended up relly liking this telecaster. needing money I ended uo selling it. (to a friend) one day I will get it back.....So if you dont like your guitar, maybe it just needs a little work

what a long strange trip it's been
