Topic: NEW MEMBER.....printing (missing chords)

Totally new to your website. But great site and it seems, a very friendly and helpful forum.

However, I sometimes feel just a wee bit too old (68 yrs) to find my way at times, around a guitar fret board, as well as  finding my way around a computer. But I generally just about get by in both cases, as a "plodding amateur"..as long as I am well out of sight and sound of others.

Singing a few songs and playing a few chords is strictly for my ears only.....But with a bit more focus (and practice), who knows what the future holds. Plus as I get older and I am told getting a bit deafer.......it will all sound better to me anyway..... if not others.

To the question...I am managing to find the songs I am looking for. And also managing to transpose them as per instruction (great feature on the website). However, when I click on the icon at the side to print page...the final printed page shows all the lyrics, but no chords at all above the words......although these are in view along each line before printing.

My printer is working fine, because when I tried to print few songs from"www.traditionalmusic.co.uk" the lyrics and chords, viewed on screen, transferred to the printed page just fine.

Sorry about bletheriing on so much. But help would be appreciated.

This is the first forum or website I have ever become a member of. (As the name implies, CLUCKINON, I keep hens.....so I am off now to tell the hens what I have been up to !!! ....I tried practising my guitar in the henhoose, but it put them off their lay)

Re: NEW MEMBER.....printing (missing chords)

hi CK and a big welcome to Chordie,I am also 68 and a little hard of hearing sometimes even understanding lol I have experienced the same thing while printing a song it could be changing the size of the font (letters) may have had something to do with it if you have a preview feature on your printer check and see if the chords are above the words before printing if that cant clear it up one of the other members can chime in and offer further assistance happy picking, russell smile

I can't answer your question cluckinon, but I would like to welcome you to Chordie.  It is a great place and you are never too old to learn.  Stick around and check back.  Someone will help you with your printing problem.

Re: NEW MEMBER.....printing (missing chords)

C(p)luckinon,
Perhaps it's because I'm only 63 that the solution is at hand.
Hey, you've signed up (in order to get this far)....here's what to do.
Go to My Songbook and create a Songbook "a folder so-to-speak"...now while viewing the music by artist or song...look on the right hand side and see there you can "ADD" to your songbook (you can select the book you want).  Now go back into the My Songbook tab...click on the "Songbook folder" (you've named) and after it opens go near the bottom and look for the "box" w/ view/print songbook...click and print.
Hint:  Name "one" songbook and reserve it for one song at a time....after you print it you can "check" the box and "move it into another songbook.
Now wasn't this simple?  Now would someone please answer my question in this category dated: 2010-02-27 20:02:11...thanks JB

Re: NEW MEMBER.....printing (missing chords)

Hello Folks...

Especially Russel, Pete and Jim for their quick response and general help, warmth and encouragement in trying to solve my "printing problem"...and making me feel welcome (I feel at home already...and this is the first forum I've ever been in)

The problem has now been solved, after burning the midnight oil last night and heading that way again tonight. And I am a wee bit humiliated to tell you where the problem/solution was.

The initial problem was words were being printed. But no chords.

Both ink levels were showing FULL on computer. But when I checked the colour catridge it appeared empty...I changed it over.... and guess what.....chords appeared on print-out !!

(The reason it worked ok on the other sight mentioned was because all the print was in black)

Thank you all again for your help and quick response...and making me feel comfortable on the forum.

Next time I'm on I will come under "C(p)luckinon"......(Good one Jim)...And it covers my two interests....keeping chickens..... and pretending I can play the guitar)

Re: NEW MEMBER.....printing (missing chords)

I almost mentioned that about your printer because I had the same problem a few weeks ago trying to print from another source.  I shouldn't hold back, I guess.  I thought, no, that's too simple.  There you go.  Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees.  I'm glad you got it going.

Re: NEW MEMBER.....printing (missing chords)

Welcome to the forum Cluckinon and Jim!  Jim... I might not be much help, but I just replied to your other thread.  Clukinon... glad you found a solution to your problem!  I wouldn't have thought of that myself as my printer just "quits" on me when I'm out of color, it won't print anything at all or will insist that I choose to print everything in black ink only.  Apparently, you aren't so bad with computers as you found the solution all on your own!  smile
