When you folks were chattin about old Clapton tunes it reminded me of this one. It is a fun song to play. Eric Clapton covered it on his 461 Ocean Boulevard Album. The original is better in my opinion and rumoured to be the last recording that Duane Allman did.

Bensonp, I had a two year sit down gig at a Mobile,Alabama bar when that Lobo song was popular.
You may think me henpecked but my wife asked me to change the lyric from "blue eyes" to "green eyes" because her eyes are green. I sang it her way and took a lot of heat from my audience and bandmates because they all knew the story.
It was more than worth it. We are still happily married after all these years.

I have visitors home from Portugal at the moment. We were here last night. Theres a trad fest on for a few days. It was great craic i tell you. We met up with some people from Alberta. I was surprised by some of there song request. They were more Irish the i :LOL:  Terrific bunch of people having a ball and enjoying the Irish culture. They were also delighted with our - 4  weather.

Well, its time to introduce the Beach BOys into this thread.  They were big when I was a teenager and they hold a special place in my memories.  They were one of my favorites along with the Beatles and Rolling Stones and many others, as well.

In 1977, Randy Newman did "Short People" and the country was shocked and offended including my mother who was short.
I explained to mom that Randy's tune was to show how ridiculous predjudice was and that he picked on short people to make his point. He dared to attack little children and old people to show how shallow that kind of thinking can be. Mom understood but always hated that song because she was really short.
A CNN reporter asked six foot eight inch tall Randy what he really thought about short people. He replied, "I hate 'em."
That song broke Randy Newman's career wide open and he is now a fat cat movie music writer in Hollywood.
