Topic: Watersealing paint and bourbon

An interesting combination.  I think I'd better open a window...

I Laughed Out Loud at the thread title. Gotta be a country tune with that title in that basement of yours.

Zurf,

I had a good friend that worked in a auto body shop his entire life and he always chuckled about all the weird and goofy guys working in his line of work. He always said he had an excuse for being a little odd inhaling all the fumes smile

I've already got an idea - something about "I grew up in those Appalachian hills.  I've got a work ethic, babe, and I've got some skills.  I work hard all week and I work more at night.  Drylok and bourbon, babe, and I'm feeling all right."

I worked as a painter for a few years.
After a full day inhaling all the fumes, one beer will knock you on your bootissimo.

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".
Ya'll wanna go down to the Guf?

A concoction like that could cause you to lose your hair.  smile

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Re: Watersealing paint and bourbon

Some of the bourbon I've had tasted like watersealing paint. Topdown is right....that is definitely a country ballad.

I used to be disgusted; now I try to be amused.

Re: Watersealing paint and bourbon

I was the Service and Bodyshop Manager for a Ford dealership some years ago and and apprentice was asked to clean the paint store by the foreman. When I arrived there the youngster has been merrily cleaning off the paint spills in an enclosed room with cellulose thinners for some time. He was as high as a kite and I ended up with the job of taking him home and explaining to his parents how he got in the state he was.

So Zurf remember a little moderation please,

Re: Watersealing paint and bourbon

No worries Roger.  I still had a job to do and still have to go to work this morning.  I took a long break after sealing things up as soon as I noticed my head getting a little spinny.

Re: Watersealing paint and bourbon

Good to hear the paint fumes didn't consume you.  Interesting note I have to make here.  I have no sense of smell and paint fumes have NEVER affected me (nor has acrylic nail fumes, permanent wave solution or many of the other fumes that really disturb people).  I find that really interesting.  Although I know the fumes can mess with your oxygen intake in your blood and all that... without being able to actually smell them, they've never bothered me.  Of course, I've never been in a SUPER airtight room while painting... but there's been a few times when my husband and I had been working on painting the same room and he had to walk out while I was unaffected.  (for safety, I left the room too just in case... but always thought this was rather strange).
