Topic: An ask : Bad moon Risin' - strum pattern

Hi Guys n girls. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good strumming pattern for this song please?

Re: An ask : Bad moon Risin' - strum pattern

Just a suggestion, if I am not sure of a songs rythm structure I find the best way of catching it is to actually play along with a recording of the song until I find the feel or groove of the song.

Tried to listen along, but i dont get on well with that kind of learning. I find it easier to have things written down than to listen & play along.

Thanks anyway.

Benson,

This is excellent, when you break chord progressions into how many beats of each chord and look at it. It makes strumming patterns so much easier. I've never played this song before and played it a few different ways and the strumming really isn't so important as the  1 2 3 4, 1 2,  1 2 , 1 2 3 4.

You know it's funny, wlbaye.  There are usually several ways to learn any particular song or chord progressions and some people explain it easier than others.  This way just clicked for me, also.

Benson,

I have never had to count much and was lucky that rhythm come easy for me but I have found when I am helping folks start out putting chords in blocks and counting the beats like the video really helps beginners out and they light up with a smile and say , I think I'm catchin on smile

Just thought i'd update and say thanks for the info shared here guys. I found both of those links useful. I have signed up for the e-book and subscribed to YGS . For the little it costs it was worth it.

I must admit though, I'm still struggling to get the song down. mainly because of chord changes. I seem to struggle with going from anything back to C. From A to A-, A - G, G- A but only coz i got fat fingers and struggle to get a good clean chord position on anything where too many fingers have to be too close together.

But i am perservering and practicing, and after that i practice a bit more... I will get there !  When i cracked it, i will post a video on my youtube channel.

Thanks again
