Topic: Zoom Stereo Recorder

Hello Everyone,

I visited the local guitar store yesterday and played a few tunes with a friend that works there. We are going to play at the local open mic  on friday night .

Anyway he showed me a Zoom video and stereo recorder that he is going to record with. It looks pretty neat, the video quality isn't the best but he claims the audio is great. If all goes well I will give my review of it. Getting good audio recording is a hard thing, my friend is a young rock and roller and he has used it with a band and they were playing loud loud and didn't have any distortion problems.
The unit sells for about $ 250.

That looks pretty neat... all this technology and I'm just starting to get caught up.  I feel like I've been in a bubble for a while, when I used to consider myself a bit of a techie.  I finally got a droid, just subscribed to netflix, ordered a unit to send my audio/video from the computer to the tv, and also finally ordered a unit to get wireless internet in the house.

I look forward to your review Wayne!  I couldn't help but notice (and giggle a little) how the windscreen looks like a baseball helmet, and there were little league players in the background picture.  I'm curious to know how the video quality is with this, as it's clearly more of an audio unit.

Re: Zoom Stereo Recorder

Heya Amy,

I am really interested in this, getting good audio quality is really tough. I have tried a couple of different cameras and tried some that have mic inputs also with mixed results. If the video quality is ok it would be really nice. I have been recording with audacity and then not using the audio from my camera and just using the video but it's a hassle and not very portable.

Yeah, I'm mostly curious to know if the audio is excellent, if the video is like that of say... a still camera taking video ... shall be interesting to find out!

Re: Zoom Stereo Recorder

I'd be interested in something like that myself if (like you've said) the video is decent. I need to step up to something better... Everything I've ever posted has been done via a $25 walmart webcam for the audio and video smile  Looking forward to your opinions!! -Pix

Re: Zoom Stereo Recorder

Sorry folks,

My friend forgot to bring the Zoom recorder along so all I had to use was my wife's digital camera. Hopefully next time we will be better prepared and organized.
