He's always been underated. You never hear his name mentioned in any top tens. A shame..very good without being obnoxious.

I think Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarist around. He's able to adapt his style to compliement any artist guitarist or otherwise.
With Dire Straits he has a style all of his own his sound is instantly recognisable.
I had to smile about his comment about his own singing in an interview a while back. Asked how he rated his singing he smiled and said " I just lurch from one crisis to another" .... I know what he means smile

That's freakin incredible!!! I love that song! I personally think that is electric guitar style at its BEST, kicks any classic rock, or headbangin hard rock, or anything. I LOVE that style!

MK is one of my faves. I sing "Romeo & Juliet" at open-mics, & it usually gets a good reaction! The album with Chet called Neck To Neck is a great one. Not a conventional singing voice, but unique & distinctive all the same.
