Topic: "Land Of The Free"

Here's a song I wrote about our country and our need to spend money and where we may be headed.
Not a very good recording but I just did recording in one take and went with it, the harmonica is too loud and it isn't mixed but what the heck smile

The Land Of the Freeby Wayne

[G]Living was easy , we spent more than we [C] made.

[D]My Father knew better, shoulda listened to what he[G] said

[G]We thought life was easy it was all a big[C] joke

[D]We're the land of the free and the home of the[G] broke

[G]Living was easy and our credit, it was [C]good

[D]Wished I'dlistened to my father, if only I [G]could

[G]We were livin high there weren't no end in [C]sight

[D]Should listened to daddy, shoulda known he was [G]right.

Fantastic A+++. And the harp playing keeps getting better too.

I used to be disgusted; now I try to be amused.

Re: "Land Of The Free"

Hi Wayne,

Nice one, my friend. I enjoyed listening to it and (hope you don't mind) made a couple of small changes to your post so I could print it out to give it a whirl myself later today.

Re: "Land Of The Free"

Nicely done Wayne, simple and to the point... but when you add that harmonica it just changes everything up a little!  I like it!  smile

Art and beauty are in the eyes of the beholder.
What constitutes excellent music is in the ears of the listener.

"Land of the Free and Home of the Broke"

Like the tell it like it is style here.

There are a lot of places could add up to that discription. Wasn't it Kristopherson said, "Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose !"

"Don't play what's there, play what's not there." Miles Davis

Lovely song Wlbaye,

It has a John Prine feel to it with undertones of Mary Gaulthier.

Why Blend in with the Crowd ? When you were made to stand out !

Re: "Land Of The Free"

hi wayne,

Loved the guitar pickin' great song too, songs about snow and Christmas are starting to wear a bit now, so this was a welcome break.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: "Land Of The Free"

Thanks alot everyone,

It was just a thing that has bothered me for awhile how our greedy banks and credit card companies try to shove credit down our throats. The young folks today have had this forced on them to keep the big economic wheel turning. My fathers generation was very cautious borrowing money if any and my generation got the credit card business hummin. The young folks now days don't have a chance.

There I'm done preaching smile
