Topic: In addition to guitar playing injuries: YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE???

My nightmare is a "STRING-O-PHOBIA"since 30 years ago, while tuning my guitar a string broke and right into my face.
I am not able, today, to put strings in a proper way.

Re: In addition to guitar playing injuries: YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE???

I experienced that last month.
Was abroad with work in france for 2 weeks and was planning on making the most of my spare time by practicing and getting to grips with playing. It was the first time I had taken the guitar away with me and was intent on knowing how to play at least one song by the time I got back home.
Excited at the prospect, I removed the guitar from the case, took out the tuner, turned it on, started at the sixth string and worked my way down. As I got to the first string, TWANG!!!! My first broken string, in a foreign country were I did not speak the lingo and I had no spare strings. NIGHTMARE!!!
Thankfully a work friend managed to have a spare which we set about replacing. Neither of us had changed a string before and managed to break that string as well:(
He did get into town and find a replacement for me. I was well impressed as he didn't speak french either.

A little long winded but a bugger all the same.

Tweedy, did he found a cat? Good strings.
I am still obsessed because the string has hit me in my face, close to my eye

Re: In addition to guitar playing injuries: YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE???

On a trip to Siberia, my interpeter took us (a small group of four) to her husband's best friend's garden for a tea party. The husband's friend, Gregori and I hit it off right away. The interpeter told Gregori that I played guitar and he produced one that had seven strings. Thank God the seventh (smallest) string was broken. He apologised profusely for the broken string but I was glad. I tuned it up as a six string and played and sang "Lord it's Hard to be Humble When You're perfect in Every Way" by Mack Davis.
Gregori opened a bottle of Russian vodka that could not be resealed. I'm no drinker but I reealized that I had to split it with him. I did and left the party feeling no pain.

Good story Toots.  I like the song choice given the circumstances.  That's classic to what I'm learning of your sense of humor.

Re: In addition to guitar playing injuries: YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE???

I would have to say the worst nightmare of my long career happened 15 yrs. ago I was practicing some lead riffs and my neighbor opened the door to my studio I was a little stoned at the time and we got into a scuffle it seems he was sleeping and my playing woke him up so he was in a bad mood as was I for him entering my home without knocking the last thing I remembered before they took me to the hospital was the butt end of my stratocaster hitting me in the jaw and knocking me out,I have been in a few brawls over the years in barrooms but none like that he was arrested and I was awarded a sum of money by the court (I did sue) but all the money in the world cant erase the memory but I have learned to forgive and put it behind me I do bump into him on occasion and although its uneasy we manage to co-exist hopefully I will live longer so I can dance on this grave lol maybe I haven't totally forgiven lol

RUSSELL STONED?? Everybody must get stoned, by BOB DYLAN.
You are so right Russ, all the $$$ in the world...., but if you are permanent damaged, a shadow of yourself (S&D&RnR+looooots of women) you can still find happiness, in what you do, in who you are now.
And I feel happy, even living the most boring life: no bar, no discotheques no nothing, just sitting here, eating watch TV, and that's it. My disability-scale is 12 from 13 you are in bed or in an institution. BUT I AM A FIGHTER, NO NONSENSE, NO JEALOUSY, NOT ANGER, I try to be me, funny, honest, and I walk with my crouches, head up.
