Topic: New Electro Acoustic Guitar advice..

Hi guys,

I'm trying to decide between a few guitars that I'm looking at.  Any advice would be great.  I've listed 2 of them below.  They are the front runners at the moment.  If you know of a real steal in the £350 bracket please say!  Thanks in advance..

Joe.

Re: New Electro Acoustic Guitar advice..

You should never buy a guitar if you haven't played it.   Have you been to a shop to noodle a bit with either of these instruments?  That will tell you more than anyone else could.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: New Electro Acoustic Guitar advice..

Jerome said it ...be sure to play it and also plan on having it set up by a pro. Figure that into your price you'll be glad you did.  For what it's worth I own a Takamine G series and love it and I have never found a Ibanez acoustic I liked. But everyone's different

Hi guys,

I know that you should only be buying an instrument that you've played and that even the same models of same brand don't even sound/play alike.  I've been playing for a few years.  The problem is I've played a few instruments from both brands in stores but not the exact models as I can't seem to find them within a reasonable distance.  Generally though, I was pretty impressed by the G Series guitars, both sound and feel.  Maybe more so than Ibanez models in the same bracket.  However, I have read rave reviews about that particular Ibanez and would like to give it a whirl.  So I thought I'd post and see if anyone had any experience of them..  Thanks again.

Reviews can be deceiving especially if the revewier is visting the chain stores. At any time, you can find a great playing low end guitar and an awful high end one. The guitars are not properly set up and strings are changed on a whim. I swear they set up the ones they make the most money on. I played a 1500.00 Taylor at GC and it played like crap. Taylor is arguably the best acoustic out there. The set up was so bad and the strings were actually noticable dirty. Point is if I didn't know better I could go on several websites and say Taylor sucks...they don't...not even close.
I understand sometimes you have to buy site unseen. Plan on having a good set up and you'll be fine.

Check out Harmony Central for reviews of these two guitars.   http://www.harmony-central.com/

Learning to play the guitar is easy. Converting that knowlege to sound like music is hard!
