Guitar chord forum - chordie → Acoustic → Songs about GROWTH
Hi Folks,
A friend asked me to sit in and play a few songs at a gig she's performing next week. The theme of the evening is 'Growth'.
Now I've come up with a couple of titles and thought I'd ask for a few more. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
For now I'm thinking of playing:
1. The Logical Song - Supertramp
2. Old Man - Neil Young
I could use a few more titles. Any thoughts?
Howzabout: "At Seventeen" by Janis Ian, "Against The Wind" by Bob Seger, "My Back Pages" & "Bob Dylan's Dream" by Bob Dylan, "These Days" by Jackson Browne, "Dream On" by Aerosmith, and the all-time classic "Puff the magic Dragon" by Peter Paul and Mary.
Perhaps these are all a little too 'vintage' for some tastes, but these are each dazzling songs about growth and time and change and the bittersweet perspective gained with age. James
Yeah! those are some great suggestions. 'Against the Wind' is the first one I'll try out... <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">
I love doing vintage songs. 'Puff' had crossed my mind, and so had 'Cat's in the Cradle'. I'll be playing with another guitarist who also plays a mean harmonica so it's great to have a lot of songs to consider for next week.
