We meet allsorts in life i know. Some enrich us, Some are just ? Well they express how shallow they are.

Out of sight, Out of mind

You shook my hand so warmly
Said “Ah, now this is grand
I’d know that lilt, a Irish voice
Sure were both from Ireland

Twas party time, some mutual friends
We shared the same domain.
Conversation cultivated
We even sang a little tune.

You enthused about your life
25 years a darlin wife
You’re Kids of three, now all grown
Fostered kids, share your home.

You made your dodgy move
It took me by surprise
Was I  foolish or just gullible?
Being friendly, did I misguide?.

Ah c’mon now my dear
My hotel is very near
Sure we’ll have a laugh or to
Yeah right! I know what’s ailing you

Your mind now like a labyrinth
I’ve no wish to excavate
No riches to be found
You’re just another cheat.

The perversity of your touch
Was both insulting and unkind
Warning signs now flashing
Wife!

hee hee... very nice Old Doll... and oh so realistic.  How funny when we meet some people in this life and think how nice and kind they are... and then they prove us wrong!  LOL!  THEIR LOSS truly, not ours.

I didn't feel bitter Jason, just disillusioned. I was also mad at myself.
Wondering whats in my sociable skills that gives this impression to  this particular "Numpty" or any other.
I felt so comfortable with his company, thinking  he was genuinely happy and married. Then he undermined me as a woman
Anothers man is not or ever was my cup of tea. I know the hurt of same only to well.But thats another story.

hi lena,

yes i got it right away. it's a shame that there are people out there like that! sorry to say though it's not just the male of the species! i've been accosted a time or two myself, at my gig on saturday for one, dont ask, wont tell. needless to say i came home as pure as i went out.

you poem, as always, tells a story yet you fill it with humour and irony, not as deep as some of your work, and i hope the low-life in question has ears that burn with a fine intensity.

Thank you both gentlemen,

I am aware Phil  this type are  of the male and female sexes. It takes all sorts i suppose . If we didnt have one then we wouldnt have the other. Anyhow ill gladly leave them to live as they like.
