Topic: HEEEEEEEEEEEELP ME THE ROCDOC!?!?i?

I suffer from a tendinitis.
You know, the "pain points:
1) The more classic (75-80%) are the they a "tennis elbow" the symptoms are, a sleeping arm and it cut's 1/2 your finger/hand.
2)Here it is the other side of the fingers like pink...) called a GOLF elbow. Resulting in no grip, on the neck of the guitars. PAIN: I can't take a guitar + fingers: from pinky, ring fingers again to the other half.
I CAN'T PLAY GUITAR!!!!

Re: HEEEEEEEEEEEELP ME THE ROCDOC!?!?i?

I feel for you!  I've had to limit my computer activities (typing especially) due to the beginnings of carpel tunnel ... Mayo Clinic says this about "recovery" from Golfer's elbow:  http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/golfer … -and-drugs

rest... ice ... learn stretches... take some pain meds... set the guitar down for a little while... and then ease back into it for short times and don't overdo it.  I don't know for sure, but I think my father had something similar going on ... I know he ended up with surgery to ligments in his elbow and is now considering going to nylon strings (from steel) to make an attempt at playing a little more again.  His whole hand will "freeze" up if he plays much at all.

I hope you can manage to get the rest your arm/hand needs so you don't end up with surgery!  Best wishes!

Physician, don't heal thyself.  Get to a specialist.  You are too young not to be able to play guitar anymore.  And as long as you're in Belgium, eat some chocolate.  Belgian chocolate always makes me feel better.

I agree completely!  Seek a specialist to make sure you're taking the right steps... and so you don't injure yourself worse!  As for the chocolate... I like that suggestion a LOT!  I'm sure it will only help, and make sure you get enough to send me and Zurf some so we can feel good too!

Doc...I know it's hard but try a 2 week break then see if it's improved.

Oh Doc... I just had a very odd thought.  If you are really addicted to the guitar ... perhaps you could keep yourself busy.  Whilst you let your fretting hand rest ... try flipping that guitar over and teach yourself a few opposite handed chords (anywhere around you could rent a lefty guitar for a few weeks?).  I know, it's not the same... but maybe it will allow you to get your addictions out while you rest that fretting hand for a bit (and visit the specialist and eat chocolate!).  I think that I'm addicted enough that I would try it!  Of course, I'm assuming your right handed... if you're already left handed it'll be pretty easy to find a right handed guitar to rent for a couple weeks.  Just a thought!

I feel for you Git I too suffer from carpel tunnel syndrome. The pain ,cramping and numbness can drive you crazy. Playing guitar is my passion and escape from this tough world we live in. I can't vision my life without playing. So avoiding surgery at all costs is my motto. Takes up to a year to recover with no guarantees.
Have you tried a Chiropractor? I have been going for over a year now and its been working. The therapy's adjustments and exercises have made a great difference. I'm not a 100% but its now manageable and I'm still playing (with less pain and discomfort)
Best of luck

Finally I injected the places, which are painful with CORTICOSTEROIDS:
- ELBOW
- SHOULDER
- WRIST
You are all so kind for me, and the problem SHOULD BE GONE in New Zealand.
No PC (leaning always on the table) no guitar no nothing, except "sniffing the instruments and looking if the MAORI have instruments.
