Re: t:title"three little words" 225

Daddycool I hate to have to tell you but the title "Three little words: is a song with music by Harry Ruby and the lyrics by Bert Kalmar, Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra recorded it and its been featured in a movie the source is from wikipedia, you have good lyrics but you might concider another title smile

"Growing old is not for sissies"

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

Hey Daddycool! Another sweet lyric, mate!

Not trying to upset the boat here and you are right Russ, but whilst looking for The Keeper (trad folk), I came across lots with the same title; also many is the time I've been looking for a song by an established artist on Chordie and the only ones I have found have been with the same name but different lyrics and tune.

I say as long as people know it's Robert Bonsall's "Three Little Words," then no worries!

(No insult intended, Russ smile )

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

At the moment Chordie is struggling with copyright issues and I see no reason to fuel the flames or give reasons and examples of the above mentioned point and it has little or no Bering that the name given is not the copyright holders, attorneys representing the parties who are trying to close Chordie down can use this as an example IMHO

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

hi russell sorry about that,i just put a title that suits the lyrics,i'm not trying to copy anyone, thanks for pointing it out.i've changed the title in the song but can't change the title bar, anyway i think they're jealous that chordie has accumulated so much talent in one place, they're frightened of the competition..rock on chordie..stay cool

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

I didnt think you were either Robert I have done the same thing a few times myself, I think on the very first post you can change the title bar by clicking the edit feature the title bar should appear and you can make a correction and its hard to say what motivates these people mostly money it has little to do with right or wrong thanks for understanding and stay frosty smile

Sorry about the title, but great song just as well. You don't usually write in 3/4 do you ? I find it hard to

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

Nice words DC. I'm gonna go see if it's on your webpage now....

Personally I only know a bit about copyright law but I don't think there's an issue repeating a song title as long as it relates to original material. The fact being there's only a finite number of words so it's therefore not possible to copyright combinations of them, unless it's possibly for a trademark slogan.

In summary, as long as DC hasn't been churning out this many songs by craftily picking relatively obscure (but good) tunes from the past and claiming them as original work there shouldn't be an issue tongue

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

hi bud_wiser i don't need to copy anything ,the inspirations are all around me wherever i go , the rest are related to either work, family or life issues, and musically i can't write music at all,i play by ear and use the few chords i know, all on the first three frets so any inclinations of me copying anything is virtually impossible, thanks for your imput....stay cool

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

i've just looked at the lyrics and listened to the songs they bear no resemblance to my song, except the title....stay cool

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

Hey DC, just to be clear, I wasn't in any sense implying you were.....simply using the example to highlight the issues around copyright as I understand them. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, to get back on topic, I still like the song. Have you recorded it yet?

Re: t:title"three little words" 225

Hi Daddy, still writing thought provoking songs I see. Well Done on this one as per your usual :-)
('ll have to check on how to do the smiley face....Doh!!! It's been so long I forgot... Doh!!!

As for the tittle thing... All titles are fair game no matter what. It's boils down to who would want to sink money into and publish a song called Yesterday. No one would me thinks.

Nice job
