Topic: Really Cool Surfing footage!

I was just watching some surfing videos on youtube and came across this amazing slo-mo HD footage. If you have a HD monitor be sure to watch it in HD format & on full screen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BOhDaJH0m4 Just thought it was really cool and wanted to share it...  Peace! -Pix

If you're in the UK you can watch the full 9 minute clip but Americans can't view it sad

That looked great Guitarpix, thanks for sharing. I tried surfing a few times when I was younger, without much success, but that was a great shot. Your close to the beach, do you ever surf?

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage!

Georgeous video Pix! The water never looks that when you're surfing though! At least rolling along the bottom like most of us do (haha)

I'm fortunate to live in the same little beach community in which the Lopez brothers, Corey and Shea( both professional surfers) reside. They have a small little surf shop on gulf blvd. and the local kids absolutely adore them. The Lopez family does a lot of good for the Indian Rocks Beach community.

Give everything but up.

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage!

I surfed a bit as a kid and that vid makes me want to give it a shot again! I'm Outer Beach bound on Saturday, usually amongst the best waves on the entire east coast there. It's been 20 + years since I've been on a board and I was thinking surf riding a kayak may be all for me this time.

Then again, my 10 year old has never surfed. How cool would it be to rent a couple of boards and teach him. The first time up on a board was one of the biggest thrills I ever had.

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage!

wow! that was really cool I did try to surf in honolulu the best I could do was stay on the board I never stood up but it was great riding a wave even just hanging on smile

I used to surf really heavy when I was younger... I still manage to grab a board several times a year but nothing like I use to. I still skate a lot though smile

Toney, Funny enough, My first roll is one of my best surfing memories. I remember lying on the bottom and watching the wave pass by from underwater... It was beautiful and is etched in my mind from 20 some odd years ago.

Top's,  Man, You've got to rent some boards and have a go again!! Nothing like that feeling smile Sharing it with your son too...yeah

Sounds great selso! Never made it to the west coast but would love to some day. Much better waves there. The best I get around here are the Banks and Carolina Beach, but they're not bad.

Outer Banks, Carolina Beach, Nags Head( my personal fav!!!), and Ocean Isle! WOW, priceless memories for me from this fine slice of extasy on our beautiful planet. I still have the Hawaiian Tropic t-shirts from my family summer vacations( Ocean Isle and Carolina Beach). Once I figure out how to post photos, I got some good ones from "back in the day"!!!!!!

Give everything but up.

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage!

Man we had a place on Ocean Isle till about 12 years ago. I pretty much grew up there. Our family farm is only 20 minutes away and my house is about 40 minutes away... Never can tell, Could have met you on one of those vacations smile Looking forward to the pics smile

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage!

Hi to all the guys and gals who surf. I started in 1965 and have just spent a week in Jeffrey's Bay [at age 62], we had 3 days of 1-2 foot, then 6 ft, then 6-10 ft, unfortunately the wind swung so the big surf was not too good, also, at this age trying to paddle for your life thru' 8ft of white water is not exactly fun. My one bud Chris owns a house at J-Bay and is 57 years young, Seamus is 69 years and  had a hip replacement job done a few years ago. so it just goes to show, you are never too old to have fun, and survive. We also spent 2 weeks there in March and had non stop surf between 3 and 8 foot, as well as many fires, beers and stringalongs and singalongs. lol. Hang ten

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage!

Topdown, take your son to the beach and introduce him to the best sport you'll ever be able to encourage him to get into. My 2 stepdaughters started surfing as teenagers and their friends thought that it was the greatest thing since sliced bread for them  to be supplied with wetsuits, boards and to be driven to all the surf spots. I took them to J-Bay once and they had the time of their lives, so go ahead and do it. I'm sure that he will thank you for ever. Trust me, it won't be long before you will have a van load of kids to collect every weekend to cart to the spots. That on its' own will keep you ''Forever Young''

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage!

Yea Pix - We are gonna bring some rods. I've been to the outer banks many, many times. Truly is paradise right here in our own state. Usually surf fishing is the middle of summer isn't the best and I'm not one to spend a day sittin on a pier. We'll dig up some sand fleas and throw out some cut bait and see what bites. Figure the kids might enjoy reelin' something in.

buvvy - The more I think about it, the more likely some surfing will be part of the week. A bunch of kids are joining us and should be some fun.
