Y'know, when I first saw this topic, I thought you were asking Hendrix's opinion on something .

I thought I might have to break the bad news to you: I'm sorry but Jimi passed away 37 years ago *ahirk*

About Jimi Hendrix, I just now that he was born in Seattle, and was a mix of Afro-American, Cherokee, Irish. When he was small (and Christmas trees were tall, sorry, I couldn't help it, to write the first line of the 1th of May, by the BEE GEES), he was a very shy boy, and they often called him or little Jimi, or Buster. btw I have a few books on him. His first attempt to play the guitar was playing "air guitar" sometimes using a wooden piece or broom.
He received his first guitar at the age of 11 (if somebody owns that guitar, he doesn't have to work for the rest of his life), I think I mentioned it somewhere, about 3 years ago, surfing on eBay, they sold a neck of a Fender, 100% real Hendrix piece, and after only 3 of the 10 days, the price was already around 25.000$, for a guitar neck!!!!!!!!!!!! that  belonged to Jimi, a sorry, stupid neck from a "smashed guitar"
Talking about BURNING his guitar, it happened not more than 5 times.
His first electric guitar was a Supro Ozark 1560 S, never heard about this guitar.
After leaving the army (he was fired), he played with other musicians, like BB king, little richard, and going to New York, he played a lot with a certain Curtis Knight. Back in 1965 he formed his first band Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. He and his band performed a lot in at that time, don't know if it still exists, the village clubs. I think that Bob Dylan started in such a clubs too.
A lot of known, and less knowned musicians saw his talent, but in fact, he never had a lot of success in his HOMELAND, personaly I am convinced that this happened in 50% of the cases, by the jealousy of fellow musicians. He was still shy and modest, and as it happens very often, once on stage even the most shy person is transforming almost in an other person, like Jekyll and Hyde.
His GODS were Eric Clapton, Beck. What didn't really work out in the USA, became a dream in Europe, Great Britain.  Spotted by the still very well known ex-animal bass player, spotted him, observed him, and they made an agreement: Chas: manager and Jimi: his artist. Starting at that time in a music scene in England, dominated by the Who, the Beatles, Pages and Claptons, it was suddenly changed by an Afro-American guy, who, once on stage, transformed in an almost "paranormal" guitar player, showing tricks and a "never seen before" way to play the guitar.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Band, with Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass, they started playing in Clubs, breaking record after record. Personally I think that the way he approached his axe, meaning the SHOW ELEMENT, like playing with his teeth had at least a very PROMINENT role on the way to stardom. I even think to remember me that in the beginning, he didn't like to sing at all. Shy as Jimi was, he was convinced that his voice was bad. But they convinced him.
The "shy factor" made him also an easy prey for people with more "criminal" intentions. What I do know is that people, shy, uncertain, not self assured are an easy prey as I wrote here above. That fact has NOTHING to do with his, tremendous almost not from this planet, skill. It did affect his health, and it must be VERY, VERY difficult when you are in that position to resist all the special things, being treated as an Emperor. THAT IS A PROBLEM, FOR MANY YOUNG SUPER ARTISTS, a lot of people with so called good intentions, so called friends are SHARKS.
History repeats always it self, see Elvis Presley, buying friendship with expensive gifts.
Both are dead, both where in their style probably the greatest, and both died, in particular, because they wanted to be loved by every single person on Earth, not so obvious.

  Some people are genial if they are able to use their skill.
  Some people are so sensitive, desperately seeking for happiness and peace in their live.
  Some people, unable to live in the real world, have the skill to change into a prominent, not               shy person, like we turn a switch, they are complete 100% different once on stage, but once the show is over, only reality is there again, transforming them back into who they are.
   But only a few people, talking about artists, are able to live a normal life.

That was probably Keith Richards.  He's only been dead five or six years, but it seems no one has informed him yet.
