Topic: Colorful strings!

I went to my local music store (not guitar center!) a few days back to get strings and found that "DR strings" makes guitar and bass strings in all sorts of colors. I thought these looked cool so i bought a pack of the "black beauties". They look really sharp on my Schecter and they sound/feel good in my opinion.

Anyone else use these strings out?

Electric:  Schecter C-1, Hot-rodded strat
Acoustic: Ovation Celebrity Deluxe, Epiphone

Keep on rockin' in the free world!

Re: Colorful strings!

I've heard that they get real ratty after a few weeks....
But that was a thread on the red ones. Hopefully, for your sake, the black ones last longer...

Re: Colorful strings!

I use DR strings a lot.  I get them mostly because I like their slick feel.  I think they have good tone and are a very good product.  I wouldn't say they get "ratty", but the color tends to wear off a little in areas where you fret the most and pick/strum.  They still look good to me.  I use darker colors (evergreen, black, blue) on maple necks, and brighter colors (red, silver, purple) on rosewood necks.

Re: Colorful strings!

I tried the red ones on an acoustic guitar. They sounded dead from the start.

I see friends holdiong hands, saying "How do you do"
They're really saying, "I love you"
Louis Armstrong. Wonderful world.

Re: Colorful strings!

I put a set of the black DR's on my 6 string guitar and they were sharp looking, but within a week of moderate playing the coating was peeling off. I cut 'em off and we back to my D'Addario EXP's.
