Topic: Rocky Mountain High Intro

Can't get it.  Harumph.

Any suggestions?

I love that song for two lines - the first being the one about friends singing around the campfire (though I don't get high) and the other about seeing it raining fire in the sky.  The intro is absolutely an essential riff to getting that song.  The tabs I've seen are not helpful (to me).

Give this a try Zurf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX4rIXGEbDY Here's the Tab http://www.guitaretab.com/d/denver-john/5102.html It's capo'd on 2nd and in Drop D tuning.

Sittin arouind a campfire and playing with friends gets you high, Zurf.  Of course you get high.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

That's not what JD was talking about.  At least not according to the woman who was his wife at the time and was along on the trip about which this song was written.  The "I've seen it raining fire in the sky..." was about a meteor storm they saw with great clarity in an open air high-altitude campsite.  "Friends around a campfire and everybody's getting high..." was exactly what it sounds like.

Zurf if this key is to high take off the capo and play it using open D and tune the low E down to D and it will be easier to sing to but use the same fingerings as the video smile
