Topic: fingerpicking to different times

This instrument of torture that we all love really would test the patience of a saint some times. I m working very hard on my finger picking with couple months ( playin about 6 months)and it has improved a lot. I can pick well without looking at my right(picking) hand and i use the correct fingers. When it comes to singing with it im using the same pattern all the time where it seems  to fit and sound ok ,so the prob would be whether the song is in 3/4 or 4/4 or whatever im tryin to squeeze same pattern in ,eg with a G chord i pick strings 6 and 1 together then pick strings 4,3 and 2 .Is that 4/4 time ?, how would you pick say 3/4 time arpeggio style. I love to pick and sing , even the most simplist of songs sound great i feel when each note of every chord is heard but i want to do it properly . I am trying to teach my self so some times i dont know what im doing or if what im trying to play is correct. Am i making any sense here guys?

If you pick the 6th and 1st together then pick the 4th 3rd and 2nd it could be 4/4 or 2/4 depending on the number of beats in the bar 4/4 is counted 1 2 3 4  2/4 is counted 1 2 1 2 with the accent on 2 in both, 3/4 time is counted the same way if its strumed or picked arpeggio but arpeggio is easier in 6/8 time as theres more beats (6) in 3/4 time your playing triplets with the accent on the 1st beat smile
