Topic: thin neck acoustic/electric

Ive been searching the net for answers to no prevale.  I have smaller hands and am looking for suggestions on which guitars have a thin/fast action neck.  I play an ovation celebrity and am pretty pleased.  Years ago I tried a Takemine and really liked it, I don't remember the model but the price around $900.  Too muchmoney for me.
Of course I need to try them out, but until then I can research.  I also prefer the thin/shallow bodied guitar.  Under $500.  Thank you!

Wahsburn guitars are known for having thin neck on their acoustic guitars. Affordable guitars, you should trye some.

Hi kcart and welcome to Chordie,

Tanglewood also have a narrow neck and should be in your price range. The range of thin bodied models is limited but I have played their Gibson 335 copy and I was very impressed with it. However a guitar is a very personal thing and you do need to try them yourself to find out what suits you.

Thank you all in advance!  I will take everything into consideration and appreciate your feedback

Re: thin neck acoustic/electric

Alvarez, Morgan Monroe, Blueridge...All have thin neck profiles.  I'll drop in a few more as they come to mind..:) -Pix

Howdy kcart67,

Well that is an "oxymoron" for you.... a thin body acoustic guitar LOL.  Generally you would expect anything acoustic to require a fairly large body to get any volume out of the thing, but I personally play a shallow body AE Ovation Celebrity and although it could be a bit louder "un-plugged" is not at all bad.

As Roger said, the Gibson/Epiphone arch-top guitars have very thin necks, and sound sweet with fast action overall.  But you will find more variety of thinner neck profiles in an electric line, as opposed to acoustic.  Something to do with the guage of strings and tension to achieve pitch.  Played a new Ibenez today and a Breedlove, and the necks of those are very similar to the Ovation you already own (feels that way to me anyway, same thickness and radius, but the both of them had flatter fretboards than what I'm used to).

Best advice is to play everything you can get your fingers wrapped around and you will find something that just "fits".
