Re: Chords

Really?  How can you be out of ideas for songs with words in them on the first post?  I guess posting out of desparation.

In that case, a random list of song titles would satisfy the request in that we have no information on taste, what has been tried before, or anything else.

I thought maybe she was referring to songs in .txt format rather than in ChordPro, or something.  But still at a loss about what possibilities to suggest.

Deia - Have you tried clicking on the "Songs" tab above and browsing?  There are many thousands of songs compiled here on Chordie.  Surely at least one of them ought to interest you.

Re: Chords

Well Deia, that's a rather broad request. There are a lot of 3 chord songs out there that are easy to play but without knowing what type of music you like it's hard to give you any input. Check out the public books section. Many members have easy songs listed in many different styles. If you're into country, try Johnny Cash. Classic rock,CCR has a lot of 3 chord stuff. Take some time and look through these books,I'm sure you'll find something you like

Re: Chords

I would like to learn about power chords. I'm sure they can do it on a bass guitar, do you think is it so hard to learn it?

Re: Chords

Hi Mizaua and welcome to Chordie, are you asking for power chords for a bass? or a guitar? to my knowledge there are no "power chords" for a bass, a chord requires 3 notes and three notes played on a bass might sound a bit muddy. The term power chord is generally applied to a guitar using an arrangement of 1st posistion A shaped chords smile

Re: Chords

Russell - Bassists don't care about literal meaning of words.  Come on now.  Power chords on a bass are usually just the root and third or root and fifth played at the same time.  If you want to introduce some tension in the music, you can also play the root and fourth at the same time.  I usually use the root as the lower note, but there's no reason it can't be the higher pitched note too.

I'm kind of a bass purist, prefering to play bass lines one note at a time, but lots of bassists play "power chords" - that Russell correctly points out aren't chords at all - but as I also correctly point out bassists don't care.

I used to hope to be a bass mutant, but I haven't dedicated the time to practice, and now that I'm spending all my time playing at guitar (as differentiated from intentional and sincere practice), I probably won't either.  So it's probably time for me to pull the bass down off the wall and put in some practice time and learn some more riffs and scales and whatnot.

Can you play the bass solo from My Generation? If I was a bassist that would be my Holy Grail.

Re: Chords

No.  But I've got a bass that's the same model as John Entwistle played in that solo.  Beautiful thing, but mine's well played and not collector item material.  That's an incredible bass solo for sure.  I heard they wanted it to be a guitar solo but no one would take it, so John Entwhistle said he'd take it and blew it away.  Don't forget about the wicked solo Joseph Shamblala did in "You Can Call Me Al."  That's one that I consider to be Holy Grail material too.

Re: Chords

Instruments are meant to be played - not hung on the wall. Well played = well loved in my book.

Deia,  look in public books. You'll find a lot of good stuff there.
