Topic: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

I mean, why? I see this happen all the time where a good idea gets ruined. You had a nice page setup, if not a bit too busy already and now you cover the chord diagrams with an immovable "5 most popular song box"?

Seriously, why?

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

I believe thats been there ever since i signed up....a year or so ago...

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

..it's a shame..the chord diagrams were one of the things I liked most about Chordie..and now, I'm forced to see what songs others are looking at..tell me, why should I care? Hey, if you want to follow others, be my guest. I just want to look at chord diagrams...lol.

Doesn't make any sense.......

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

Hi guys - can you post a link to particular songs that have that problem? I don't seem to have it at all and cannot even seem to create it. Are you using FireFox or IE? Maybe your screen resolution is causing the problem? Just guessing here because that problem doesn't occur for me anywhere.

Post a link and I am sure the head programmer guru (Per) will put it on his list to fix.

Rule No. 1 - If it sounds good - it is good!

Indeed I use Firefox...

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

Hi Xbeatle - I just checked your link and the popular song box is tucked neatly above the song window on the top right side - not at all covering the cord boxes. A tweak of your screen resolution (display properties) may solve your issue.

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

..dooh..my bad..yet, the warning still stands.."Don't over-crowd this gem of a site"

Thanks top..and now to correct this incredibly beautiful song...that every site has incorrectly...and no, not because of screen resolution ;-)

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

The little box with the top five is no problem on mine ... its hardly noticeable and causes no clash with anything at all . As for reading what seems to be just a small list of favourite songs by the people on here .... thats no problem either .

any resemblance to my songs sounding anything like the original is highly unlikely.

good guess topdown...i was scratching my head on this one...lol

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

Well I have the same same problem, it covers the top portion of the chords. I use Firefox.

edit; I just tried it with IE and there was no problem. With that said I can change the font
size in FF and make it show right...but then it's hard to read anything else.

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

funny thing, that's exactly the problem I was having..ever since I upgraded my Firefox to V 3.0.5, I've noticed a change in the way fonts are handled.

In the past, the default fonts seemed larger...now when I increase them, the whole page expands horizontally and it adds a lot of empty space between text...not really happy with it.

I've played with what I believe are the applicable options in the Settings area but still haven't found a combo that works well for text in actual websites while also working for text in Google search, for example.

And to quote a phrase applicable to this site "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" sad

Re: Get rid of 5 most popular song box....

Well here are my settings in FF so that the chords (on the right) show correctly.
Tools\options\content-fonts and colors\advanced.... font sizes are 16 - 15 - 12.

You can then use Ctrl and the plus key + to make most pages easier to read.
Plus + for bigger and - minus for smaller.
