very good question!!!!
hmm, hard to decide on just now, but I tihnk there must be a solo or three from the likes of
angus young, eddie van halen, randy rhodes, yngvie malmsteen guy, stevie ray something, and a lot of blues solos.
i will come back to you on this one.
but one of my favourites would have to be the solo on Lynard skynard's "freebird"
Ken
If you liked the freebird solo check out Steve Gaines and Allan Collins on the Freebird movie donig "Than Smell" Steve Gaines smokes. Also Muchael Schenker on UFO Live "Rock Bottom".
Bootlegger.
i'll take any thing from David Gilmore..
no question, duanne allman, and its lynyrd skynyrd, it drives me nuts when people misspell it
Speaking of misspelling Mr. Allman's name is Duane. Along with Dickey Betts they did some fine work together as Duane also did with Eric Clapton on the Derek & the Dominos album.
Bootlegger.
ya, i'm not really good with names. clapton would be third on my list. they did some fine work together, if only duane was still around now
Eric Clapton and as for solo pick one any one!
The man is a machine!!
Plz stick to the topic thank you.

Ken
Stevie Ray Vaughan on "Life Without You". It puts a lump in my throat, raises the hair on my arms, and makes me wanna pick up my guitar and try to be 1/10000th of the guitarist that he was.
How many do you think you confused with that. Ken
Bootlegger.
im sure everyone read it ok, well, unless they cannot speak or read english, if they were from a far eastern country and never had english lessons then they might not have understood that.

jimmy page's solo on stairway and marvin barre's solo on aqualung have to be a couple of the sweetest ever.

I really like this topic by the way..... Anyway i think the best guitarist of all time would the man Jimi Hendrix and his best solo would be Voodoo Chile (slight return).
Jimi Hendrix started out as a sax player in the Isley brothers band. Also with Little Richard.
Stevei Ray Vaughn!!!!!!!!!! That's it. Say no more. Hands down.Best solo???Listen to the Carnagie Hall CD.
STEVE B.(JV)
stevie ray was one the best .anybody know the name of the band charlie sexton put together with stevies old band double trouble????
arc angels
Mmmmmmm, Hard too say who the best guitarist is. Clapton? Page? 'Keef'? Beck? Hendrix? ME?
I'm gonna mention one that I think can sometimes be overlooked when talking about good guitarists, more a riff meister than a soloist I would think though. I give you... Tony Iommi. He hasn't half churned out some legendary riffs in his time.
As it's a best guitarist/solo thread I best pick one,eh? So, not my absolute favourite guitarist but I do reckon him to be the best (if that makes sense!); Eric 'slowhand' Clapton.
Best solo? The one drenched in wah pedal fuzziness at the end of White Room.
Ello! As for my favorite Guitarist, i would Have to say Jerry Garcia. The best solo would have to be his "Eyes of the World" Riff from Cow Palace, but then again, anything jerry plays is like !WOW!
