Topic: The Neil Young song : OLD MAN with Cameragirl80s singing harmony

This is one that I recorded on 5/16/08 and then the next day took the kids to an Aquarium where I bumped into Neil Young enjoying a day off with his son.  I got to chat with him for a bit and told him about my YouTube covers. He actually acted flattered and told me how very cool that was and encouraged me to keep it up!

But it was when I told him about my original music that he got real friendly.  He stepped up and gave me a hearty and friendly handshake when we were finished.  For me it felt as comfortable as talking to an old friend for some reason.  Very relaxed an casual.  Meeting him randomly like that out of his usual context I think helped.
Nobody was bothering him and we were able to talk one on one.

I recruited my friend Jane recently to add vocal harmony to the chorus and the video fades to her at those parts. So here is the new version with jane added! (I'll post this to the chord page as well)

any resemblance to my songs sounding anything like the original is highly unlikely.

Of course you are right but it amazed me that he was just walking around in public with nobody recognizing him. He blended in.  I thought about just letting him walk by but he was so close I said very discreetly "Mr. Young" and just expected a wave while he walked on but to my surprise he turned, approached me, and wanted to see what I wanted and was happy to talk.  I think i was my children (1 and 3 year old) that made him feel safe approaching.

was only kidding ... I wouldnt have lost that opportunity either ... many times I have wished - even for 5 seconds -  to have put myself out to meet some of the greats .... and I dont get starstruck but to meet some of them and say hello and thanks would be great . I worked in the uk tv industry and met many many minor celebs and they dont count  ... but I know who the great ones are ... a couple I wish for is john lennon and paul mcartney ... plus a few others . wouldnt take more than 5 seconds ... is that sad or what ?

Well done.  Must have been a thrill meeting Neil Young like that.  He seems like a regular guy who just loves jamming and is exceptionally good at it.  Some people have the desire.  Some people have the talent.  And some fortunate few have both.

I had this recording already done and sent an mp3 of it to Cameragirl803.
She sent me back a WAV file of just her sining and I combined it (and aligned it) with my track using Audacity.
Really simple to do actually.  After that I spent time EQ'ing the audio.

Thanks.  Always trying to learn.  People think all the talent goes on the left (fret) hand, but really it all adds up.
