Topic: Amp cuts in and out

I have a problem with my amp cutting in and out. I play a Gibson Les Paul and my set up is as follows:  Guitar to Korg tuner to Boss wah to Boss blues driver to Boss Phase er to Marshall MG 50 watt amp.  From time to time (never consistently) the sound will cut in and out Like a radio station that won't lock in.  I might play it for 2 hours with no problem.  The next day it might start acting up after 30 minutes, but never more than 30-40 seconds.  I've tried this set-up through another amp and the same thing continues to happen.  I've had a repair shop look at the amp by itself and they said it never faded out on them over a period of 2 weeks.  Any suggestions???

Re: Amp cuts in and out

Play your effects one by one through your amp, also switch cords and check batteries.  This way you go through the process of elimination.  One of your effects can have a loose wire or going to ground (earth for you on the other side of the pond). I'm not an electronics geek but it won't hurt to try.  Don't open the amp yourself High Voltage is dangerous.

Re: Amp cuts in and out

what type of connection, patch cord, do you have between pedals?

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be all metal connector (no flexible wire parts) between my chorus and D.D...If you have use actual patch cords between pedals, then nevermind.  If you have those crappy metal things, that might be your problem..

Re: Amp cuts in and out

You have WAY 2 many effects <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy"> i think you need a pedal board and probably need 2 experiment with different cables as well i would use Monster cables if i had that many effects but i just like 2 keep it simple and not drown excellent playing with crappy effects
