Topic: THE PERFECT BAND

It should belong maybe in artists and bands, but I won't refer a band.
It is more a kind of question.
WHAT IS THE "COMPOSITION, better COMBINATION" (don't know if this is correct) OF A BAND.

1) 3 players: GUITAR, BASS, DRUMS with one or each of them vocals.
2) 4 players = a more classic line up, 1 drummer, 2 guitar players, 1 bass, vocals see 1
3) 5 players: 1 singer, 2 guitar players, 1 bass, 1 drum
4) 4 to 5 players, one playing "keybords/piano.
Of course you can start with saxophones, trumpets, and so on BUT I TRY TO KEEP IT SIMPLE.

I PREFER the 4 member line up.

Hi Doc ......
      Four seems to be the most common .. My partner and I get by with just the two of us .. My partner sings lead on most songs and plays guitar .. I sing lead on a few songs and play guitar also .. I take care of whatever lead playing we need , and some songs I let my partner take care of vocal and guitar and I play fiddle .. Works for us and people seem to like the more simple approach ......

Last band I was in was four.  One acoustic/rhythm guitarist, one electric/lead guitarist (also played acoustic from time to time), one bassist, one drummer.  Both guitarists sang.  They could trade between lead and backup singing.   The combination worked well.

My dream of a perfect band would me a 200 piece orchestra with chorus.
Unfortunately I have no way to pay or book such a huge ensemble.

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".

That's funny you'd mention that, because I have a 200 piece orchestra and a chorus hanging out at my house tonight, and they tell me that they're just aching to get a gig in the Redneck Riviera.  In the meanwhile, I have a LOT of chili bowls to wash...

I played with 5 piece bands buy there is always a lot of argueing going on every body wants to play something else I like 3 or 4 ...3 with bass drums and lead with all singing or 4 piece with bass 2 guitars and a drummer with guitars and bass singing less stress............more fun Beatles or Cream Love them both
