Topic: playing "airguitar"

I saw a contest some weeks ago on TV.
It is hilarious, but I have to admit that some of these kids do play quit well AIR GUITAR, finger positions, strumming... Are there contestants who play guitar in real life or not?
The winner gets a real quit expensive guitar.
Is this a USA linked phenomenon?
We don't have to look too far, JOE COCKER, when he sings he plats a lot of air guitar: see the WOODSTOCK performance.
He should be considered as the "godfather" of the "air guitar".
I adore to see JOE COCKER performing, in "spastic" way.
In the seventies we all pretended to play and to move like the two frontmen of status quo.
ROSSI & PARFITT, playing side to side well timed, making the same moves while playing
DOWN DOWN, ROLL OVER LAY DOWN.
GENERALLY IT IS A STRANGE PHENOMENON.

Hi Docphil, strange for sure. A few years back I watched an air guitar competition in a mall
parking lot, seems the kids liked it, me, I don't know !

Did you hear about the air guitatist that had to cancel his gig?
