I was telling Doug earlier in a email you must be dog tired after working all day in the "salt mines" and come home and do the dinner thing and scratch the cat and work with this recording project so how long is this job going to last? I sure hope you get the money you deserve and get back to a happier regimen again smile

Russ, it is odd the you should mention the 'salt mines'. There is a working one only about 5 miles from my location, in the town of Loulé, but I can assure you I am not going to apply for a job there.

Anyway the main reason for this post is just to let you all know that I do not expect to have the final mix of the song ready until next weekend. I have just heard that one of the contributors is unwell and will not be able to send their offering for a few days, although they have kindly offered to step down so I can offer the part to someone else, I have declined and said I would wait.

Roger I didn't know they still mined salt useing manual labor, I dont think I would apply for a job in one old or young,there's no time table on your project and I agree on waiting for someone who offered to submit a part and cannot because of illness I'm sure the finished song will really be a good song and speaking of songs I have to get busy with some ideas because I will go into the studio this month to finish up "Another Day" and stat recording my newest ideas and with christmas around the corner I will be uploading my entire christmas CD of traditional songs and one of my own to mediafire for everyone on chordie and I hope it snows on christmas eve this year it really makes the day extra special smile

As I explained earlier, unfortunately one of my performers has been ill and I will not rush them into sending me something that they are not happy with. Their's is a crucial part of recording that I want to produce so I am sorry, if I must wait, then so must you.

Yippeee!!

"Wrapped in Happiness" is now completed. I sent a copy of it to all the contributors 24 hours ago and I have uploaded the recording to on 'Friends of Chordie' and it is posted in the Songwriting section with details of all the participants for comments from there.

What I have kept to myself until now is that I have also 'roped in' some other vocalists too. One has never been heard on Chordie before and another only once before. Two of us are 'old stagers' but still very young at heart smile.

This was a fascinating and rewarding project to complete. I ended up with 12 tracks to balance and mix, so OK I was pulling my hair out (what little I have lol) and the air around me was blue at times but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I dread to think of the number of hours I have spent balancing the tracks and I have listened to the recording countless times trying to ensure that everyone who has contributed can be heard. I hope that everyone who has contributed to this song is happy with the result.

I will be putting together a post explaining how I did it, which I hope might be of help the next person who does this.

Well Done Roger,

  Twelve tracks are a lot of streams to bring together and a "Hurculean" effort with input from a group so far removed from each other physically.

  WE are pleased that you are pleased, and appreciative of the opportunity to work with you on this project.  For those of you who have not tried multitrack mixing yet on any scale... it is not an easy job and consumes an inordinate amount of time and effort.  In the end the results can be really surprising and quite good.  Those sound engineers really DO earn their pay!
