Topic: Whiskey in the Bottle

ok i need some help i've hit a little bit of writer's block and i need some ideas for verses or maybe us this as a verse/part of a verse idk but its all i've gotten so far . . . ty in advance for any help

G                    C                     G
I can't leave the whiskey in the bottle
C                       D                             G
It's all that I have left since you've been gone
       C                    D              G              C
You tore my world apart with a lonely cold goodbye
     C                    D                      G
So all that's left to do is drain this bottle dry
           G           C                      G
As the tears run slowly down my cheek
C                    D             G
I can't help but dig up old memories
    C               D                  G                             C
so i sip at this bottle tryin to drown the thoughts of you
C                               D                       G
cause tonight its gonna take the place of you

Re: Whiskey in the Bottle

Hi Nmomygomery,

Here are some words that may help. Feel free to use, edit or discard as you see fit.

I hoped the contents of the whiskey bottle,
Would help me to forget just how I hurt,
But even though I consumed all the amber brew,
My head is clear and filled with thoughts of you.

I am looking at an empty bottle,
It seemed it was the only friend I had,
But I have gone and drunk it till it is all gone,
There's nothing left for me to now lean on.

Re: Whiskey in the Bottle

Failte nmontgomery. Heres some thoughts in lyrics for you.

As the firey liquid plays its part
Im  alone to heal my broken heart
I need you now to dry these eyes
Your kisses linger in the whiskey rye.

Remember how our love was fine
the life we planned such fine designs
these changes that made you so  cold
shattered dreams inside a drink of gold.

Good luck to you Girl.

Re: Whiskey in the Bottle

OK here's a chorus / middle 8. Trite, but there you go.

Whiskey bottles in the window,
Whiskey bottles in the hearth,
There's whiskey in this tall glass,
But I'm empty in my heart.

And a couple of verses. (I remembered the words of Turlough O'Carolan ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turlough_Carolan ), the great Irish Harper, on his death bed. He picked up the whiskey bottle and said " How could we great friends part without a kiss." )

I cried each time time I raised you to my lips,
How could we lovers part without a kiss?
You stung me with your spirit, amber cold,
Till I saw the truth behind the lies you told.

As I lay each bottle down upon the floor,
This sickness now I simply can't ignore.
Each empty lover that I lay aside
Screams at me I should take another bride.

I suppose I could get up and walk away,
Though its hard to hit that bitter road and stray,
I'll leave the past, and all it's empties too
And maybe I should do the same with you.
