Topic: "Life Roads"

This is just a song I wrote about looking back at where I’ve been and looking at where I could have been if I had taken some wrong turns in life.

Life Roads By Jeff Gilpin

October 22nd, 2008

Verse 1

[Dm]Wheels are [G]turning

In my [C]mind [F] [C]

[Dm]Looking back at [G]those

Happy [C]times [F] [C]

[Dm]To For[G]get them

Would be a [C]crime [F] [C]

I [Dm]look back

So [F]none are [C]left be[G]hind

[Dm].[F].[C].[G]

[G]Too many memories

[Em]Not enough time

[G]Too many memories

[Em]Not enough time

[C]Can’t [Bb]leave a [C]one be[G]hind

[G]Too many friends

For this [Em]heart of mine

[G]Still out there some

[Em]Where I can’t find

But [C]I won’t [Bb]leave a [C]one be[G]hind

No [C]I won’t [Bb]leave a [C]one be[Em]hind

Verse 2

[Dm]My wheels have [G]rolled me

A long [C]ways [F] [C]

[Dm]From all [G]my

Younger [C]days [F] [C]

[Dm]Not getting [G]lost

In the [C]haze [F] [C]

I [Dm]see them all

[F]Looking [C]back a[G]mazed

[Dm].[F].[C].[G]

[G]I Never thought

I’d [Em]get this far

[G]Surprised I’m not

At the [Em]end of some bar

[C]Hard to [Bb]believe I’ve [C]come this [G]far

[G]Sipping on whiskey

[Em]Breathing in tar

[G]Dead ended somewhere

In a [Em]broken down car

[C]Hard to [Bb]believe I’ve [C]come this [G]far

[C]Hard to [Bb]believe I’ve [C]come this [G]far

[C].[Bb].[C].[Em]

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: "Life Roads"

Thanks Phill - That is true. It's amazing how life turns out I think.

Why Blend in with the Crowd ? When you were made to stand out !

Re: "Life Roads"

Yep looking back is great...all those what ifs too. I've always been curious about all the roads taken as well as all the roads I've yet to come across.  They all sound like good song fodder to me. smile

Re: "Life Roads"

Thanks Brad and Daddy - I agree with you Daddy, joining Chordie sure has given me a great way to make new friends who share a common interest of music with me.

Re: "Life Roads"

Hi Jeff,

Life's road is long and winding with many tempting side paths, some good and some not so good but we do not know which until we try them. Looking back on the good ones is fun and it is especially good to remember the wrong ones and how we got through them. All part of the rich tapestry of life. Good theme and a great song.

Re: "Life Roads"

Thanks Roger - Yep, it sure is and also filled with great stuffing material for songs.  smile
