Hey Valor

If you're looking for a rock/metal sound, Schecter makes a VERY affordable and great sounding metal guitar ... the Omen 6 ($299)

I've had this guitar for about a year now and it's great ... the only draw back I've seen so far is the headstock is a little heavy but other than that, you'd be VERY satisfied with it ... the pickups are Schecter brand humbuckers and they're pretty nice ... my suggestion is to swap them out later for EMG 81/89's

Let me know what you think ... I'm actually selling mine for $199 on Craigslist here in San Antonio ... I'm not playing as much metal as I thought and my Gibson Les Paul does well with Hard Rock tones

Re: Need help picking out a Guitar

Being my first post here I want to say, this is a neat site for sure! Having played for 40+ years, I only wish we'd had this kind of help way back then. I play a Takamine 12-string acoustic/electric  and a  Epiphone 'John Lennon' EJ-160E acoustic/electric. Of course, I've had many different guitars in my day but these are my current 'babies'. Rock on and I'm off to the songwriter thread.
