Every journey begins with the 1st step. You have now begun that journey and will continue to pick up spped as you go. Stay focused, don't stumble, trip or fall - BUT - if you do just call on your friends here for help. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: I'm so pleased...

Well done.

Being of a certain age, I can remember when this was first released and a great instrumental it is too, as is all the Shadows music. Keep it up and please let us know of your progress. A big pat on the back for you.

Re: I'm so pleased...

Awwww.. thanks guys.. smile   It means a lot to have your encouragement.

Nela, I've stumbled lots.. tripped a few times, & definately fallen once or twice, lol.  But each time i do, i get back up &  'get back on that horse!' smile

Roger, my husband suggested i learn this song, as it has no lyrics. haha!  I think he doesn't like my singing..! Check out YouTube, Rachael980.. there's a VERY bad video of me killing Wonderful Tonight.

Re: I'm so pleased...

Hi Rachael,

I took your advice and had a listen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eAbLhiJloE for anyone else who want to listen). Considering you had only been playing for three months when you put that up is is very good. Well done.

I played along, just strumming, to your recording and it sounded fine. Now it may be a bit early in your guitar career to suggest this but why not have a look at the recording tips I have just put up in the Recording section and try making  a recording with both a strumming and a picking guitar backing. Not only should it be fun, it would also add to the performance.

Re: I'm so pleased...

Just had a listen to you on YouTube Rachael and for only playing a short time you did an excellent job. smile
You should have heard me after 1 year. lol
I agree with Roger that you should take a foray into recording. It will help you not only in learning to play but recording yourself for prosperity so you can look back and see how far you have advanced.

Well Done

Congrats Radchael smile  It's great learning that very first song ... once that comes, you've been "bitten" by the music bug

The first song I learned was Judas Priest's "Living After Midnight" and I haven't stopped since smile

Re: I'm so pleased...

hello again all.. smile   I do look back on that video quite frequently, & compared to now, its rubbish, lol. Now i play it totally fluently with no mistakes, forgetting the chords or words.  So you're suggesting, Roger, i record 2 copies, one picking, one strumming, & mix them..?  Yes, that sounds cool, i'll have a look in the recording section & see what i can do! I'm sure i can find a program or someone can recommend one that'll mix the 2 recording together.  My electric guitar has taken a back seat for a while, in favour of my acoustic, but maybe i could mix some picking with the electric, with some acoustic strumming.. or visa versa.. Hmmmm... certainly food for thought..!  I can play LOTS of whole songs on the acoustic... watch this space!

Re: I'm so pleased...

Hi Rachael,

If you read the "For Recording Virgins" thread you will see not only a link to a free programme to record, add effects and mix with, there is also a link to some tutorials that Russell Harding has made helping you to use the programme.

If you want any help or advice if you give it a go, then please ask on the Recording section of the forum.
