Topic: Dome

This wee song was inspired by a gift i received recently in the post. It was a  tiny beautiful replica of a dome shaped church in Portugal.  Sent by Roger Guppy. I love  architecture . Old buildings have stories to tell. This Dome is in a market place,so i would expect it gets loads of visitors. I have left a link at the bottom for you all to see it. I tried to write the song from my own inner sanctum and the spirit that any church of any religion holds for me.

The song is finger picked quietly. Capo on the second fret. I do apologise for format. I just never seem to get it right!

Domeby Helena Donovan

[D]it’s cool inside your open [Em] door

[A]Welcome hugs for [A7] every [D]one

Many come [D7] inside your [G]home

[A]You never [A7] feel [G]alone in your [D]dome

.

.

[D] Daily they come to [Em] beseech

[A]To seek some shelter [A7] from the [D] heat

Of [D7] life and all its daily [G]pain

[A]take Refuge [A7] in your [G] name in your [D]name.

.

.

InScripted in your walls of [Em] stone

[A]Ageless tales of [A7] blood and [D] bone

The [D7] artist plasterwork like handmade [G] lace

[A] Fears, Doubts and [A7] tears are [G] ch-ang-ed and [D]erased...

.

.

Chorus

[G]There gift to you a fleshy [A] pain

[G]You can Cure the sick or heal the [A] lame

[D]Lover lost return [G] alone

[A]Miracles drape your [A7] spiritual [D]home.

.

.

Amen’s are hushed as tears spill [Em] out

[A] Silence fills the [A7] market [D]place

Call in and [D7] trade for peace of [G]mind

[A]Search inside this [A7] dome of [G] stone I call[D]home.

[A] Miracles dwell in this [A7] dome shaped [G] ho-m-e , made with [D] stone.

Re: Dome

Hi Helena,

I made some minor adjustments to the formatting for you.

I am so pleased that my little gift inspired this song. Funnily enough I had seen this rather small quaint building several times before I noticed that the door was ajar one day and, being inqusitive, I looked in. I was amazed when I realised it was a very ancient chapel and ornately decorated inside.

A lovely song that has captured the ambience of this historic chapel.

Thank you,

Roger
