I was wondering if anyone knows in the song black snake moan that samuel jackson is playing( i know ry codder actually played for soundtrack but they also taught samuel) what tuning they are using for the slide work. I got the dropped d for the rhythym but is it just a dropped d or an open d. I am having problem with the slide work sounding that well

Welcome to Chordie, Can't help with the tuning. The song was first recorded in 1927 by Blind Lemon Jefferson for
paroumount records.  Try a google search. good luck.
